“We must remember how children learn rather than how we teach. Through movement, through emotions, through activities, through projects—all the basics fit in. And they’re learning without realizing they’re learning.”
A Touch of Greatness documentary film about the remarkable educator Albert Cullum. Watch another trailer here.
Andy suggested we watch this and I’m so glad we did. What a freaking awesome teacher.

I’m so glad I was able to see the beautiful work of Carl Auböck in person at Mondo Cane Gallery in Tribeca. I think it closes today. Go see it if you can!

Made by Massimo Lunardon as a special production for Sweet Bella, these ‘bombons’ are for pencils or flowers or any small thing (or nothing at all).

Pincushions
Designed and made by a couple in Japan. The husband crafts the keyaki (Japanese elm) base and the wife stitches up the squares of vintage kimono fabric she’s collected for many, many years. Colors will vary.

Nicole:
One of my favorite bookstores in the world is Oak Knoll Books in New Castle, Delaware. They specialize in books about books, so they have shelf after shelf of books about: book collecting, book design, book illustration, bookbinding, bookplates, fine press books, papermaking, printing history, typography & type specimens, and writing & calligraphy, plus it’s all housed in an old Opera House.
Here are a few items I have found on my last trip to Oak Knoll.

I love children’s books, and they have one of the best children’s book sections ever! Here are a few books we brought home with us.
